Leveling up Through Archaeology

When the Cataclysm expansion released I was pretty bored of doing mindless quests to level up. I was grateful when I heard the level limit was only going to be raised by five levels, but I knew I would still have to spend a good portion of my playing time doing quests.

Then while I was watching my wife play, I noticed that she was doing the new Archaeology profession and she was gaining thousands of experience for each fragment she found. I forget how much experience she earned at the lower levels but at level 84 at full rested you earn 27,600 and 13,800 if you aren't rested.

I decided to pick up the profession and start earning easy exp by flying around to a location and getting three fragments at each dig site. That is 41,400 non-rested experience. There are always four dig sites on each Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. After you finish one dig site another one will spawn.

I really recommend leveling with this profession if you are tired of doing quests, it is really easy and kind of relaxing collecting all the fragments and working on completing pieces. If you are lucky or spend enough time you can even discover a skeleton raptor mount.
