A couple days ago I was browsing through the WoW general forums, and I noticed an announcement about the new public test realm was up. Even though my account isn't currently active I decided to give it a look and see if I was able to download and play it.
To my surprise I logged in through the website and it took me to the character copy page. Where I quickly selected my level eighty warlock and level eighty paladin. It only took about eight-teen hours for the character copies to go through. Now when I go back to the character copy page it says the que is full and the average wait time is four days. I was pretty lucky with being able to get my high levels onto the ptr.
The problem starts after I start up the game, I don't have the public test game fully downloaded yet, but on the start-up screen it says most of the download is complete and it is playable. Sometimes the game won't load at all, I will select my character and it will go to the loading screen, but then it will boot me back to the character selection screen without ever fully loading and it will say this character doesn't exist. Also the realm says the population is at medium, but I think many more people are having the problems of constant crashing too.
The public test realm has only been out for a few days now so hopefully they will have this ironed out by next week. This test is for the 4.0 patch that gives the new talent trees and is also the pre-cata patch.
I haven't been able to really play that much on it yet though, I was able to redo my talents on my warlock, but I crashed before I could get to a test dummy to see my damage output.
